(Basketball News) - The New Orleans Hornets try to strengthen their playoff position in the Eastern Conference this evening when they continue their five- game road trip against the Seattle SuperSonics at KeyArena.
On Saturday, P.J. Brown poured in 24 points and Jamaal Magloire added 22, as New Orleans topped Portland, 94-81, at the Rose Garden.
Darrell Armstrong netted 15 points and handed out 15 assists for the Hornets, who snapped a four-game losing streak and moved into a tie with Milwaukee for fourth place and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs in the East.
Brown shot 11-of-14 from the floor, while Magloire added 12 rebounds to go along with his point total.
New Orleans continues to play without injured starters Baron Davis and Jamal Mashburn. Davis has missed the last five games with an ankle injury, but could return at some point this week. Mashburn, though, is likely sidelined until the postseason.
The Hornets, who snapped a 10-game road losing streak with Saturday’s triumph, has dropped 12 of their last 14 on the road and are 14-23 away from home this season.
Seattle defeated the Hornets earlier in the year, but has lost three of the last five matchups. The Sonics, though, have won six of their last 10 at home in this series.
