(Basketball News) - Jamaal Magloire scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as the Hornets held on to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks, 91-85, at New Orleans Arena on Monday.
David Wesley and Baron Davis each netted 18 points for New Orleans, which has won two in a row and four of its last five games. Davis, who was only 6-of-25 from the floor, also chipped in 10 assists and six boards.
New Orleans opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run, culminated by P.J. Brown’s jumper, to grab a 77-67 lead. Milwaukee rallied, though, and was able to close within three points twice, the last time at 84-81 on a layup by Joe Smith with 2:18 remaining. The Hornets then received a hook shot from Magloire to make it a five-point game.
After the Bucks’ Daniel Santiago missed a pair of free throws, Davis converted a runner in the lane to push the advantage to seven with just 31 seconds left.
The Hornets, who led 52-45 at the break, improved to 10-1 when they lead at halftime, and they are 12-1 when holding the lead after three quarters.
New Orleans returns to the court on Thursday when they head to the desert for a date with the Phoenix Suns.
