(Basketball News) - Dikembe Mutombo poured in 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five blocks, as the New York Knicks beat the New Orleans Hornets, 79-74, on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
In a back and forth final stanza, Mutombo was the difference altering shots and making a key steal in the closing seconds to preserve the victory for New York, which rebounded from Thursday’s loss to the Pacers.
Allan Houston scored 18 and Charlie Ward had another big game off the bench as he tallied 11 points for the Knicks.
The Knicks had 10 steals, which was a season high.
New York had eight blocks in the game.
The Knicks are off until Monday when they host the Detroit Pistons.
