Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki underwent an MRI exam on his left knee Monday and the results were negative. He is listed as day-to-day with a sore knee.
The 26-year-old Nowitzki apparently hurt the knee during Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He played 42 minutes in the 108-103 setback and collected 23 points and 13 rebounds.
Nowitzki then sat out Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets as well as Monday’s contest versus Toronto. He also missed a game in November due to an ankle injury.
In 56 contests this season, Nowitzki is averaging 26.9 points and 10.1 rebounds — both team-highs.
Meanwhile, guard Michael Finley sat out his third straight game with a bruised left calf. Finley is averaging 17.6 points over 41 contests this season.
Finally, guard Jerry Stackhouse missed Monday’s contest with a strained right groin. Stackhouse is third on the club in scoring, averging 15.6 points in 45 games.
