(Basketball News) - The Suns improved their NBA-best record to 22-3 on Monday with a 107-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. Quentin Richardson’s tip in at the buzzer handed Phoenix the win.
Richardson’s game-winner came on a second effort after his first attempt in the lane was blocked by Denver’s Nene. Teammate Amare Stoudemire missed an attempt after that, but Richardson got his hand on the ball with plenty of time to spare.
Stoudemire poured in a game-high 32 points to lead the Suns, winners of nine straight games for the second time this season. Phoenix improved its NBA-best record to 22-3.
Richardson added 19 points in the victory, Steve Nash had 15 with 10 assists and Shawn Marion scored 12. The Suns shot 53 percent to Denver’s 51 percent.
Phoenix did not win its 22nd game last season until March 15, 2004, vs. Houston. The Suns have also won 18 of their last 19 games, the most victories over a 19-game stretch in team history.
The Suns return to action on Thursday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
