Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly traded shooting guard Bonzi Wells to the Sacramento Kings in a three-way deal with the Utah Jazz
According to Friday’s edition of the Commercial Appeal, Memphis exercised an $8 million team option on Wells and then sent the disgruntled swingman to the Kings. Sacramento will then send guard Bobby Jackson to the Grizzlies, while center Greg Ostertag will land in Utah for his second tour of duty with the Jazz.
The Jazz will also send guards Raul Lopez and Kirk Snyder along with forward Chris Borchardt to Memphis.
However, the deal can’t be announced until the NBA’s moratorium is lifted.
The 29-yeard old Wells, averaged 10.5 points per game — his lowest scoring per-game average since the 1999-2000 season with Portland — in 69 games with Memphis.
Jackson has been a spark off the Kings bench the past couple seasons, netting 12 points per game last year. Injuries limited his playing time to just 25 games in 2004.
The veteran Ostertag will be reunited with the club that drafted him out of Kansas back in 1995. Ostertag spent nine seasons with the Jazz before spending the last two campaigns with the Kings.
Lopez saw limited action with the Jazz last season, playing around 16 minutes per game. He posted 5.2 points per contest, while proving to be a solid guard off the bench, as he dished out 4.0 assists per game.
Snyder saw time in 68 games last season with the Jazz, averaging 5.0 points per game, while Borchardt netted 3.0 points per game in 67 contests.
