Ridnour, Sonics reach agreement on multiyear extension

10.30.2006

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics and guard Luke Ridnour reached an agreement on a multiyear contract extension on Monday. It’s reportedly a three-year pact.

The fourth-year point guard would have become a restricted free agent after this season had he not been signed to the extension.

The deal comes in the aftermath of the recent sale of the team. The NBA Board of Governors last week announced its approval of the sale of the SuperSonics to the Professional Basketball Club (PBC) LLC, an Oklahoma City investment group led by businessman Clay Bennett, who also acquired the WNBA’s Seattle Storm as part of the deal.

Ridnour averaged a career-high 11.5 points and seven assists last year. He has a career average of 9.2 points and 5.2 assists in three seasons.
