Rockets visit Sixers

02.6.2006

(Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets take aim at their fourth consecutive win this evening when they conclude a two-game road trip against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.

On Sunday, Tracy McGrady scored 23 points as Houston beat New York 93-89 at Madison Square Garden. David Wesley notched 19 points, while Yao Ming had 15 for Houston, which won for the fifth time in its last eight games.

Stromile Swift added 12 points in the win.

The Rockets also have allowed fewer than 90 points in all four games since Yao’s return and the team is 3-1 in that span.

Houston, which will return home for three games following tonight’s contest, is 12-14 away from home this season.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, comes in on a winning note after Allen Iverson scored 34 points after missing four games because of injuries to both ankles to lead the 76ers past the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-95 on Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.

Chris Webber scored 26 points for the Sixers, who stopped a small two-game slide. Samuel Dalembert notched 13 points and Andre Iguodala added 10 in the win.

Iverson capped a 9-2 Philadelphia run on a jumper with 6:11 left in the game that put the Sixers up 87-79, to which Cleveland failed to respond.

Philadelphia, which will hit the road for a pair of games after tonight’s tilt, is 15-10 in its arena this season.

Houston swept the two-game season-series last year from the Sixers and has won six straight and eight of the last nine matchups. The Rockets have also won 10 of 12 in Philadelphia.
