Seattle routs struggling Portland

Earl Watson scored 23 points, going 6-of-7 from beyond the arc for the SuperSonics, who halted a brief two-game losing streak and won by their largest margin this season. Damien Wilkins scored 20 points while Chris Wilcox tallied 18 and pulled down 13 rebounds. Robert Swift and Luke Ridnour each added 10 points.

Sebastian Telfair and Martell Webster each scored 14 points for the dismal Trail Blazers, who have lost a season-high 11 straight games. Darius Miles was the only other Trail Blazer to score in double figures, scoring 11 points. Joel Przybilla added nine blocks.

The Trail Blazers were never in the game, as Seattle shot a blistering 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the field in the first quarter to jump out to a 15- point lead at the end of the period, 34-19.

Things only got worse for Portland in the second quarter as Allen took over for the SuperSonics, scoring 18 of his 24 points to help Seattle’s lead balloon to 32 at the break, 67-35.

Portland shot just 33 percent in the first half and got killed by the SuperSonics on the boards, 24-11. Zach Randolph, the team’s leading scorer, shot just 2-of-10 from the floor for five points and was benched for the entire second half.

Seattle shot 65 percent from the field and 11-of-11 from the charity stripe.

The SuperSonics led by as many as 42 in the second half and Portland couldn’t even make the score look respectable in the fourth with most of Seattle’s starters on the bench.
