O’Neal sat out two games earlier in the season with a bruised knee, which he reinjured after a collision with Houston’s Chuck Hayes in Sunday’s 94-72 loss.
A 13-time All-Star, O’Neal has averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one block in three games this season. He has posted 24,820 career points in 14 seasons for 14th place in NBA history.
Also, Miami guard Jason Williams was active Friday for the first time this season, after having undergone arthroscopic knee surgery on July 21st.
