Shaq sits out, but Heat win ninth straight 12.21.2004

The All-Star was injured in Sunday’s win over Orlando and Michael Doleac started in O’Neal’s place. Doleac ended with eight points and five rebounds in O’Neal’s absence.
O’Neal is averaging 20.9 points and 11 rebounds this season for the Heat, who have the best record in the Eastern Conference. It wasn’t immediately known how long O’Neal would be out, or if he would return for the much-hyped Christmas Day matchup against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Miami (20-7) has currently won nine straight games and is on its longest winning streak since the club reeled off 10 straight wins in March 1998.
