Sixers top Sonics to end skid

11.16.2006

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Andre Iguodala had 12 points, nine assists and eight rebounds to guide the Philadelphia 76ers past the Seattle SuperSonics, 96-90, at KeyArena.

Allen Iverson finished with a game-high 28 points and Samuel Dalembert added 12 for the Sixers, who snapped a three-game skid.

Rashard Lewis posted a double-double with 25 points and 15 boards while Ray Allen netted 22 points and Luke Ridnour scored 20 for Seattle, which had a three-game winning streak halted.

Philly led 24-20 after the first quarter, and bumped its lead up to 10 with 5:46 left in the half on a bank shot by Iverson.

The Sonics lashed back with seven straight points to cut the deficit to three, only to see the Sixers score the last four points in the second to make it 43-36 at intermission.

The Sixers built their lead back up to double-digits early in the third, and made it 50-38 with 9:57 left on an Iguodala slam. Seattle never got closer than eight points for the rest of the quarter, and trailed 76-63 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The Sonics used a 9-0 burst early in the fourth to pull within six, though, with Allen converting a traditional three-point play with 7:20 on the clock to cap the run.

Iverson nailed a pair of free throws on the other end and Willie Green followed with a tip-in to push the advantage back to 10.

Seattle made one last charge, and whittled the lead down to four, 91-87, following a Ridnour jumper with 59 ticks on the clock. Philly, however, hit its free throws down the stretch to seal it.

Game Notes

The Sixers are scheduled to visit Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Friday and Elton Brand and the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday in the finale of the current trip. Philadelphia is 2-2 on the swing...The Sonics are 1-2 at home this season. They will host the Utah Jazz on Friday before hitting the road to face Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors on Saturday at ORACLE Arena.
