=== Spurs enjoy 16-point edge at halftime ===

San Antonio, TX (Basketball News) - San Antonio began the game with eight straight points and never relinquished its lead, as the Spurs have built a commanding 58-42 halftime advantage over the Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at SBC Center.

San Antonio took control from the onset and Bruce Bowen’s three-pointer with 10:29 remaining in the opening quarter made it 8-0. The Pistons fell behind by as many as 12 in the period before eventually trailing 30-19 after one.

The Spurs continued their hot shooting in the second quarter, which enabled the margin to balloon as high as 18 points.

Leading by 11, San Antonio reeled off seven straight points, capped by Manu Ginobili’s layup, to make it 47-29 with 5:04 left in the half. Detroit did close within 12 points late in the half, but the Pistons went into the locker room trailing 58-42.

Tim Duncan scored 14 points and Ginobili added 12 for the Spurs, who shot a blistering 20-of-34 from the field in the opening half (59 percent).

Antonio McDyess netted 12 points off the bench for Detroit, which made 44 percent of its attempts in the opening 24 minutes (19-of-43).

San Antonio won the series-opener 84-69 and is looking to grab a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven set between the last two NBA champions.
