Spurs place Ron Mercer on waivers

Mercer was obtained by San Antonio along with swingman Hedo Turkoglu on July 24, 2003 as part of a three-team trade with Indiana and Sacramento. In the deal, the Pacers received forwards Danny Ferry and Scot Pollard, while the Kings acquired center Brad Miller.

In 39 games this season for the Spurs, Mercer averaged 5.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per outing.

Meanwhile, the club activated guard Jason Hart from the injured list. He had been sidelined with left patella tendinitis. Hart has averaged 3.7 ppg over 33 contests this year.
