Stackhouse back on the hardwood

02.1.2004

Washington, DC (Basketball News) - Washington Wizards forward Jerry Stackhouse played for the first time this season, starting Sunday’s 104-100 home loss against Cleveland after coming off the injured list.

Stackhouse started at small forward, replacing rookie Jarvis Hayes. The former UNC standout, who was hampered with a condition that deteriorated the lining on the back of his right kneecap, had 13 points and two rebounds in 27 minutes.

In 70 games for Washington last season, Stackhouse averaged 21.5 points and 4.5 assists per contest. The Wizards’ leading scorer last year underwent surgery on his right knee back on October 21.

Meanwhile, the Wizards placed guard Mitchell Butler on the injured list with right knee tendinitis to make room for Stackhouse.
