The Magic plays the second of a four-game road trip this evening. Rising star Dwight Howard scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 25 rebounds to lead the Magic to a convincing 91-76 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday at ORACLE Arena.
Keith Bogans scored 16 points off the bench in the win over the Warriors for Orlando, which has won five in a row. Keyon Dooling ended with 13 points, while Tony Battie scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Magic.
The Magic are 8-8 on the road this season. They will visit the Phoenix Suns on Saturday and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Wednesday.
Los Angeles attempts to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season. Juwan Howard had a season-high 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets over the Lakers, 102-77, on Wednesday at the Toyota Center.
Superstar Kobe Bryant had 20 points for the Lakers, who have lost two straight after a four-game winning streak. Bryant left the game with a groin strain.
Andrew Bynum finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Houston for the Lakers, while Luke Walton scored nine points and handed out six assists in defeat.
The Lakers are 16-4 as the host this season. The will host Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat on Monday at the Staples Center.
This is the second and final meeting of the season between the squads. On December 27th, Bryant scored 27 points and dished out seven assists as the Lakers defeated the Magic, 106-93, at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Orlando has lost nine straight at the Lakers. The last time the Magic beat the Lakers on the road was on March 17, 1996. The Magic are 2-15 as the visitor against the Lakers.
The Lakers have won four in a row in this series.
