The Spurs come into tonight’s game off an emotional win. Duncan hit a jump shot with 44 seconds to play in overtime to lift San Antonio to an 89-88 win over Indiana on Saturday in front of its home crowd.
Duncan finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds for the Spurs, who captured their fourth straight victory and their 17th win in 18 games. The perennial All-Star has 30 double-doubles in 33 games this season. He has 375 of them in 484 career games.
Hedo Turkoglu netted 15 in the win for the Spurs, while Rasho Nesterovic added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Charlie Ward debuted for the Spurs and dished out three assists in 11 minutes.
San Antonio, which has won eight in a row on the road, is 10-7 as the visitor this season.
Atlanta returns home tonight after going 2-4 on a six-game road trip.
The Hawks’ struggles continued on Saturday night, as they fell 92-71 to the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center. Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Dion Glover each scored 15 points for Atlanta, which has dropped three straight and 13 of its last 16 games.
Atlanta made 26-of-66 shots and just 1-of-11 from behind the arc in the loss.
The Hawks, who have lost four of their last five at home, are 5-10 as the host this season.
San Antonio has won two straight and nine of the last 10 against the Hawks. The Spurs have lost six of their last 10 at Atlanta.
