Trail Blazers finish homestand against surging Warriors

03.11.2007

(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers wrap up a four-game homestand when they welcome the streaking Golden State Warriors tonight to the Rose Garden.

This is the second of three contests between the clubs this season. On November 3rd, Baron Davis scored 17 points and dished out nine assists as the Warriors pulled away for a 102-89 home victory over the Trail Blazers.

Golden State has won three straight after losing its last two at Portland. The Warriors have won seven in a row in the series.

The Trail Blazers are scheduled to host Golden State on April 18th in the final contest of the regular season for both clubs.

Portland has lost two in a row and is 1-2 on the current homestand. Manu Ginobili scored 23 points, and hit two clutch three-pointers late in the fourth quarter as the San Antonio Spurs rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat the Trail Blazers, 99-94, at the Rose Garden.

Rookie Brandon Roy scored 19 points and dished out nine assists for Portland, which has dropped four of their last five games overall. Zach Randolph finished with 14 points and 12 boards, while rookie LaMarcus Aldridge scored 14 points and Ime Udoka netted 13 for the Blazers, who have lost eight straight contests to the Spurs.

The Trail Blazers are 14-17 at home this season. They will visit the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday at the Pepsi Center.

Golden State tries to make it four wins in a row. Baron Davis scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds, as the Warriors continued their push toward a possible playoff spot with a 99-89 victory over the Clippers at ORACLE Arena.

Matt Barnes contributed 16 points and Stephen Jackson netted 15 for Golden State, which has won its last three contests following a six-game skid. The Warriors, who haven’t been to the playoffs since the 1993-94 season, have their longest winning streak since a five-game surge from November 9-18.

The Warriors are a dismal 7-25 on the road this season. They return home to host the NBA-best Dallas Mavericks on Monday and the Minnesota Timberwolves next Friday at ORACLE Arena.

Golden State is 1 1/2 games behind the Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
