Recap and Highlights for November 26

  By Christopher Sells
11.27.2008 - Updated on 11.27.2008

Thunder 82, Cavaliers 117
OKC loss watch just hit 13 straight as the Cavs put the Thunder away without any real effort. None of Cleveland’s starters played more than 30 minutes; LeBron James logged only 17, but still scored 14 points. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 17 in just over 13 minutes. The Cavs have won 11 of 12.

Bucks 96, Hawks 102
Al Horford’s 21 points and nine rebounds lifted the Hawks to their fifth home win in six tries as they held off the Bucks. Marvin Williams and Mike Bibby would score 18 points each while Joe Johnson added 15 points and nine assists. Richard Jefferson led the Bucks with 25 points and Ramon Sessions had 21 points and eight assists off the bench.

Bobcats 86, Raptors 93

Chris Bosh fell just short of his third 40-point game of the year with 39 and 11 rebounds and the Raptors broke a three-game losing streak by beating the Bobcats. Joey Graham added 17 points and Jose Calderon led the Raptors with nine assists. Gerald Wallace led Charlotte with 23 points and Emeka Okafor scored 16 and pulled down 14 boards.

Warriors 111, Celtics 119

Despite leading the league in defense, it was offense that the Celtics needed to win their sixth straight game of the season. Four starters scored 20 or more points for Boston (Allen 25; Rondo 22; Garnett, Pierce 21). Garnett would add 13 boards and Rondo seven assists. The Warriros got 32 points from Corey Maggette and 30 from Stephen Jackson in their fourth straight loss.

Magic 96, 76ers 94

Rashard Lewis’ three-pointer in the closing seconds sealed the Magic’s win over the Sixers. Orlando got 21 points and 14 rebounds from Dwight Howard and 20 points from Tony Battie. Lewis finished with 19. Elton Brand paced the Sixers with 21 points; Andre Iguodala had 17 and seven assists. Orlando has lost only one game on the road thus far in six games.

Knicks 96, Pistons 110
The new-look Knicks continued to struggle last night, shooting only 39% as the team dropped its fifth out of six. Eight Pistons scored in double figures, led by Richard Hamilton’s 17 and Allen Iverson’s 16. The Pistons are looking to get back to their winning ways after dropping three of five before last night’s game. Al Harrington scored 25 for the Knicks but hit only eight of 24 shots. David Lee posted 17 points and 15 boards.

Suns 110, Timberwolves 102
On the strength of double-figure scoring from each starter and 54% percent shooting, the Suns denied the Wolves their first winning streak of the season. Steve Nash led the Suns with 20 points and six assists, Shaquille O’Neal had 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks after sitting out the previous game. Al Jefferson poured in 28 points and 17 boards for Minnesota, which lost despite an 18-rebound edge on the offensive glass.

Pacers 91, Rockets 90

Troy Murphy led the Pacers with 21 points (14 of them in the fourth quarter) and 14 boards and Danny Granger put back his own miss to end the McGrady-less Rockets’ three-game win streak. Granger would finish with 16 points. Ron Artest and Yao Ming scored 19 for Houston. Yao also had 10 rebounds; Luis Scola had 18 boards. The Rockets had 13 more rebounds than the Pacers, but shot only 35% for the game.

Bulls 88, Spurs 98

Tim Duncan scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Spurs, but the story of this game was the Spurs bench, which outscored Chicago’s bench 54-25. Rookie George Hill scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds and Manu Ginobili scored 15 in his second game of the year. Ben Gordon had 23 points for the Bulls and Drew Gooden posted 20 and 12 boards.

Grizzlies 100, Jazz 117

Utah overcame numerous injuries to win their tenth game of the season over the Grizz. Paul Millsap led the Jazz with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Mehmet Okur had 21 and 10. Deron Williams handed out 15 assists. Memphis was led by Rudy Gay’s 27 points and O.J. Mayo’s 22. The team has lost four straight and eight out of nine.

Heat 68, Blazers 106

Miami outscored Portland in the second and third quarters. The first and fourth were a different story. The Blazers opened the game with 12 straight points and finished the first quarter with 37 and never looked back. After entering the fourth quarter with a 19-point lead, the team reeled off another 12 straight to make sure that no one would mistake this for a competitive game. People had rebounds and points and assists, but does it really matter in a 40-point game?

Nets 116, Kings 114

Despite losing Vince Carter to an apparent hamstring injury in overtime, the Nets were able to hold off the Kings, who lost their fourth strtaight. Carter would score 25 before being carried off the court by his teammates, Brook Lopez had 20 points and eight rebounds. John Salmons scored 38 points for the Kings in their losing effort and Brad Miller posted 20 and 13 rebounds.

Nuggets 106, Clippers 105
Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points and had 11 rebounds to help keep the Nuggets atop the Northwest Division. Kenyon Martin and Nene scored 17 apiece and combined for 19 boards and Chauncey Billups had 11 dishes. Eric Gordon led the Clippers with 24 points and Marcus Camby had 17 and 11. Camby had a chance to win it against his former team, but came up short on a jumper with time winding down.
