Nene placed on the injured list

Denver, CO (Basketball News) - The Denver Nuggets placed forward Nene on the injured list on Monday with a left knee sprain.

The 22-year old former first round pick was injured in the second quarter of his team’s 94-79 loss to the New Jersey Nets on Sunday when he landed awkwardly on Vince Carter’s foot.

Nene, who started last night’s tilt due to a hip injury to oft-injured Marcus Camby, has averaged 9.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 37 games this season for the Nuggets.

For his career, the Brazilian native has averaged 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in three seasons, all with the Nuggets.
