Robinson has played in 42 games this season with Golden State, averaging 8.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
The 38-year-old Robinson is in his 16th NBA season and the Nets will be his fifth team. He began his career in Portland after being selected by the Trail Blazers in the second round of the 1989 draft.
In addition to his time with the Warriors and Blazers, the 6-foot-10 Robinson has also played with the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons. Robinson has averaged 15.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 1,221 career games.
"Clifford is a veteran big man whose overall presence will provide depth to our front court," said Nets President Rod Thorn.
The Warriors will receive the Nets’ 2005 second round pick, which was acquired by New Jersey from the LA Clippers in the Kerry Kittles trade. Golden State will also get the Nets’ 2007 second round draft pick.
In other news, the Nets released forward Donnell Harvey to make room for Robinson. Harvey was in the midst of his second 10-day contract in New Jersey this season. He was averaging 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in just three games.
