Nets acquire Robinson from Bobcats

01.3.2007

East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - The New Jersey Nets acquired guard/forward Bernard Robinson from the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday in exchange for guard Jeff McInnis and cash considerations.

Robinson played in 21 games this season for the Bobcats and has averaged 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

"Bernard can play both guard and forward, is a good defender and will add athleticism and depth off our bench," said New Jersey president Rod Thorn.

Robinson, who is in this third season in the league, has career averages of 4.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

McInnis, who has been inactive all season with torn cartilage in his left knee, signed with the Nets a free agent in 2005, also missed the last 48 games of last season with the same injury.

In 28 games last year with New Jersey, McInnis averaged 5.3 points and 1.9 assists per contest.
