Nets visit Miami

12.29.2006

(Basketball News) - The New Jersey Nets try to stop a four-game losing streak when they visit the Miami Heat tonight at AmericanAirlines Center.

New Jersey is two games off the lead in the Atlantic Division and dropped a 96-71 decision to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at Continental Airlines Arena.

Hassan Adams scored 13 points, while Vince Carter and Bostjan Nachbar each scored 12 for the Nets, who have lost 15 of their last 21 games overall. Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson each had 11 points in a losing cause.

The Nets are just 3-8 away from the Meadowlands this season.

Meanwhile, the defending-champion Heat had a brief two-game winning streak halted with Wednesday’s 109-103 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

Jason Williams scored 28 points with six assists for the Heat, who were without All-Star guard Dwyane Wade for most of the contest. Wade left the game in the first quarter with a sprained right wrist and did not return. He is questionable for tonight’s contest.

Miami, which is three games behind both Orlando and Washington in the Southeast Division, is 8-7 as the host this season.

The Heat are 2-0 against the Nets this season with two more games to play. Miami has won eight of 11 and nine of the last 14 meetings.

New Jersey has lost six of seven and 10 of its last 14 in South Beach.
