(Basketball News) - The Nets will try to improve their chances at the postseason tonight, when they take on the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Nets are ninth in the East, one game back of idle eighth place Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Indiana currently resides in a tie for fifth place with Washington, two games behind fourth place Chicago and two contests in front of seventh place Cleveland.
New Jersey has won three in a row, 11 of 14 and 12 of its last 16 contests, including a 99-86 victory over Boston at Continental Airlines Arena on Saturday. Vince Carter was nearly unstoppable with a season-high 45 points on 18-of-32 shooting in the win. Carter also buried 7-of-9 three-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds and notched four steals in the game.
Jason Kidd scored just four points, but handed out a season-high 17 assists and pulled down nine rebounds in the win. Nenad Krstic tallied 17 points and Clifford Robinson added 11 points and seven rebounds.
New Jersey, which has won five straight and six of its last seven road games, is 16-22 in foreign buildings this season. The Nets are beginning a two-game road trip tonight.
New Jersey has won two of three meetings with Indiana this season, including the last two. Nonetheless, Indiana has won five of the last eight meetings in the set. New Jersey has won two of its last three at Indiana.
Following tonight’s contest, the Nets have a day off before battling the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre on Friday night. New Jersey will finish up its week against Philadelphia at Continental Airlines Arena on Sunday.
