(Basketball News) - The New Jersey Nets target their first winning streak of the season this evening when they face the Washington Wizards at the MCI Center.
Last night, New Jersey snapped its nine-game losing streak, as Richard Jefferson posted 23 points to lead the Nets to a 99-86 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats at the Meadowlands.
Eric Williams delivered 22 points for the Nets, who used the NBA’s most recent expansion franchise to win just their third game in 14 chances this season. Alonzo Mourning netted 18 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
The win was the first for New Jersey since topping the Portland Trail Blazers back on November 9.
New Jersey, which will begin a two-game homestand on Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks, is just 1-5 away from home this season.
The Wizards topped the Nets earlier in the season, but has lost 10 of the last 12 meetings. New Jersey has also won two straight and four of its last five in Washington.
