=== New Orleans Hornets Team Report - January 18 ===

(Basketball News) - Baron Davis scored 16 points and dished out eight assists, as the New Orleans Hornets defeated the Orlando Magic, 91-90, on Saturday at New Orleans Arena.

Steve Smith came off the bench to net a team-high 17 points for the Hornets, who snapped a three-game home losing streak with the victory. Robert Traylor and Stacey Augmon also subbed in to notch 14 and 12 points, respectively. Jamaal Magloire recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Smith, Augmon and Taylor combined to shoot 19-of-28 from the field, as the Hornets’ bench scored a season-high 45 points. New Orleans’ bench had been outscored in its previous 13 contests. Orlando’s bench only managed to score 20 points in defeat.

"They were the difference in the game," Hornets head coach Tim Floyd said of his reserves. "They came in when we were down 11. I thought it was the first time we’ve really been committed to running our stuff in a long time. We just executed, executed, executed...took quality shots each and every trip down."

Orlando’s Tracy McGrady had an opportunity to steal the win, but he was bumped by P.J. Brown on a layup attempt, and no foul was called with only a second remaining.

Before Saturday’s game, the Hornets put guard David Wesley on the injured list with a sprained left ankle.

The Hornets, who have not scored over 100 points in 16 of their last 17 games, are off until Monday when they visit Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
