The Minnesota Timberwolves open a four-game homestand when they welcome the Spurs on Wednesday to the Target Center. It is the second meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 13th, Tim Duncan scored 24 points and led the Spurs to a 95-82 win over Minnesota at the AT&T Center.
San Antonio has won five in a row against the Timberwolves. The Spurs have won two straight after losing their last two at Minnesota.
The Spurs try to get back on the winning track as they wrap up a brief two- game road trip. On Wednesday, Larry Hughes scored 13 of his 18 points in a strong 38-point fourth quarter by Cleveland, which came back from an early deficit to beat the Spurs, 82-78, at Quicken Loans Arena.
Tony Parker poured in a game-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting for the Spurs, who have split their last four contests. Duncan ended with 18 points and 15 boards for San Antonio.
The Spurs are 11-4 on the road this season. They return home to host the Dallas Mavericks on January 5th at the AT&T Center. San Antonio and Dallas have split a pair of games this season, as both clubs picked up a win on the road.
Dallas, which knocked off the Spurs in seven games in the 2006 Western Conference semifinals, has won two in a row at San Antonio.
Duncan leads ths Spurs in scoring (20.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg), while Parker, who is second on the team in scoring (19.8 ppg), has dished out a team-best 6.3 assists per game.
San Antonio is 17-2 when it scores 100 or more points this season.
