Nowitzki, Mavs square off with Artest, Pacers

Indiana has won three of four and four of the last six meetings in this series, while these two teams have split the last eight contests. Dallas has lost three straight and five of its last six at Indiana.

The Mavericks opened their road swing with a victory. On Monday, Dirk Nowitzki scored 35 points to lead Dallas over the Chicago Bulls, 102-94, at the United Center.

Marquis Daniels finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the win over Chicago for the Mavericks, who defeated the Bulls for the 14th time in the last 15 meetings. Adrian Griffin added 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Devin Harris totaled 13 points and 10 assists for Dallas, which has won two straight games.

Keith Van Horn ended with 13 points for the Mavs, who lost guard Jason Terry at halftime with a sore right hamstring. Dallas outrebounded Chicago, 46-30, in the victory.

Terry is questionable for tonight’s game.

Dallas is 6-3 on the road this season. The Mavericks closeout their road trip on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

The Pacers attempt to get back on the winning track this evening as they begin a three-game homestand. On Sunday, Ray Allen poured in 25 points and added six rebounds and three steals, as the Seattle SuperSonics defeated Indiana, 107-102, at KeyArena.

Ron Artest led all scorers with 30 points in the loss to Seattle for the Pacers, who have dropped two of their last three overall. All-Star Jermaine O’Neal chipped in 22 points and Sarunas Jasikevicius had 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in the loss.

On the injury front for the Pacers, point guard Jamaal Tinsley (groin) is doubtful for tonight’s game. He has missed Indiana’s last two contests.

Indiana is 5-2 as the host this season. The Pacers will also host the Washington Wizards and the Memphis Grizzlies on the current stand.
