Nowitzki sidelined with ankle injury

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki is expected to be sidelined 7-to-10 days after an MRI exam Monday revealed a mild left ankle sprain.

Nowitzki injured his ankle when he stepped on the foot of Denver forward Nene late in the second quarter of Sunday’s 110-82 loss to the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. Nowitzki, the club’s leading scorer and rebounder, finished with 11 points in 18 minutes of action.

In 11 games this season, Nowitzki is averaging 25.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest.
