Paul hurt himself in the opening minute of the second half with the Hornets leading 53-41. He had eight points and three assists in 17 minutes before exiting.
The third overall pick in the 2005 draft, Paul has emerged as the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year honors through the early going. The former Wake Forest All-American entered Friday’s contest ranked second in the league with an average of 2.3 steals per game, while his 16.3 points and 7.4 assists through 32 games currently tops all first-year players.
