(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers take aim at their third consecutive victory this evening, when they battle the vastly improved New Jersey Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.

Philadelphia is coming off a 3-1 homestand, including a 106-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon. Allen Iverson scored 28 points, including a key three-pointer and two free throws down the stretch, to lead the Sixers to the victory.

Kyle Korver chipped in 16 points and Andre Iguodala added 15 for Philadelphia, which has won four of its last five contests. Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson each had 14 points for the 76ers, who have won six of their last seven home games.

Philadelphia hit 49.3 percent from the field in the contest, including 8-of-15 (.533) from three-point range. The Sixers drained 32-of-41 (.780) from the free throw line. Philadelphia outrebounded the Clippers, 30-27, in the contest.

The Sixers improved to 17-5 when registering 100 or more points. Philadelphia is also 11-2 when draining eight three-pointers in the contest. Tonight, the Sixers will try to get to .500 for the first time since Nov. 26, when they were 6-6.

With the victory, the Sixers stayed within a half-game of Boston for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. The Celtics downed the Minnesota Timberwolves, 103-100, at the Target Center on Sunday.

Philadelphia, which has lost three of four and six of its last eight road tilts, is 10-16 in foreign buildings this season. The Sixers are playing one of just two road tilts in a span of 10 games tonight.

Philadelphia currently sits in a tie for 10th in the league in scoring (97.9 ppg), while residing 24th in points allowed (99.7 ppg). The Sixers are shooting just 43 percent (26th) from the field, while allowing foes to nail 44.3 percent (14th) of their shots.

Following tonight’s game, the Sixers will return home to host the Memphis on Wednesday. Philadelphia also has contests against Toronto (road, Friday) and Orlando (home, Saturday) this week. All in all, the Sixers have five games in seven days.
