(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks, 125-122, in double-overtime on Wednesday at American Airlines Center.
Glenn Robinson paced the Sixers with a game-high 34 points. Allen Iverson added 31 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Philadelphia, which has lost two of its last three. Samuel Dalembert had a strong night for the Sixers with a career-high 24 points and 16 boards.
Michael Finley knocked down a short jumper to give Dallas a 119-116 lead with 2:12 left in the second overtime. Dirk Nowitzki then made 1-of-2 from the stripe for a four-point lead.
After a basket by Eric Snow pulled Philadelphia within two, the Sixers tied the game at 120 on a pair of free throws by Robinson with 41.8 seconds remaining. Nowitzki kept plugging away and gave the Mavs a 122-120 edge on a 15-foot jump shot with 24.1 seconds to go.
Dalembert was then hacked and made 1-of-2 from the line to pull the Sixers within one. Travis Best was then immediately fouled and made both shots for a 124-121 score. With 8.0 seconds left, Snow made 1-of-2 free throws for a two-point game. Dallas sealed the win after Finley made one foul shot for a 125-122 lead.
Robinson is averaging 24 points and 5.2 rebounds in the last five contests.
The 76ers are off until Saturday when they host Mike Miller and the Memphis Grizzlies.
