(Basketball News) - Jake Voskuhl scored four of his 18 points in the final 1:24 to help lead Phoenix to an 88-85 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday at Staples Center.
Joe Johnson tied a season-high with 26 points and added 10 rebounds for the Suns, who extended a season-high winning streak to four games and won for the first time in 11 tries at Staples Center.
A tip-in by Voskuhl, who pulled down 12 rebounds, snapped an 84-84 tie with 1:24 to play. Then, a free throw by Derek Fisher 20 seconds later brought Los Angeles within 86-85. But a layup by with 47 seconds remaining put Phoenix ahead by three.
Fisher missed two three-pointers in the final 8.2 seconds for the Lakers.
Phoenix was without forward Amare Stoudemire, who aggravated an ankle injury. He is expected to miss Wednesday’s game against Denver, as well.
Elsewhere on the injury front the team placed forward Antonio McDyess on the injured list because of tendinitis in his left knee. The Suns also activated forward/center Maciej Lampe from the injured list.
