Pistons and Bucks put winning streaks on the line

01.17.2004

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Two winning streaks are on the line tonight, as the Milwaukee Bucks welcome the sizzling Detroit Pistons to the Bradley Center for a Central Division battle.

The teams have already met twice this season. The Pistons defeated Milwaukee, 105-99, on November 7, 2003 at The Palace of Auburn Hills, while the Bucks knocked off Detroit, 83-78, on December 23 at the Bradley Center.

On Friday, Richard Hamilton paced five Piston players in double figures with 17 points, as Detroit won its 11th straight game with a 98-77 rout of Washington at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Tayshaun Prince added 16 points, Mehmet Okur and Bob Sura each had 13, and Chauncey Billups chipped in 12, as the Pistons matched their third-longest winning streak in team history at 11 games. Detroit’s 1990-91 team also won 11 in a row.

"We have been playing great basketball," Sura said. "Tonight was probably our best performance of the season. We are really excited about continuing this 11-game win streak."

The Pistons, who have won three straight on the road, are 10-8 as the visitor this season.

The Bucks go for their 11th win in a row at home tonight. The last time Milwaukee won 11 straight at home was from December 9, 2000 to January 23, 2001. The Bucks’ all-time home winning streak is 24 games, which was achieved in 1985 from February 12 to November 30.

On Thursday, Toni Kukoc scored 17 points to lead the Bucks to their 10th straight home win, a come-from-behind 86-83 triumph over the New Jersey Nets in front of their home crowd.

Michael Redd scored 15 points and rookie T.J Ford posted eight points to go along with nine assists for Milwaukee, which won for the seventh time in eight games overall.

The Bucks are 15-4 at home this season.

Milwaukee has won three straight against the Pistons as the host.
