Pistons welcome struggling Hawks to The Palace

(Basketball News) - The Detroit Pistons hope to extend their winning streak to four games tonight when they host the struggling Atlanta Hawks tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 22nd, Chauncey Billups had 24 points and 10 assists to lift the Pistons to a 103-98 win over the Hawks at The Palace.

Atlanta is scheduled to host the Pistons on January 12, 2007 at Philips Arena in the third and final contest of the season between the squads.

The Hawks have lost four straight and five of its last six at Detroit. The Pistons have captured seven of the last eight contests in this series.

Detroit opens a short two-game homestand. On Thursday, Billups had a double- double with 17 points and 10 assists to pace Detroit to an 87-71 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.

Tayshaun Prince scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win over the Cavaliers for Detroit, while Richard Hamilton had 11 points for the Pistons.

The Pistons, who will host Vince Carter and the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday, are 7-3 at home this season.

Atlanta attempts to halt a three-game losing streak this evening. On Friday, Stephen Jackson scored 27 points to lead the Indiana Paces to a 100-90 victory over the Hawks at Philips Arena.

Joe Johnson scored 22 of his game-high 31 points in the first half for Atlanta, which has dropped seven of its last eight games overall. Marvin Williams ended with 18 points in defeat.

The Hawks are 5-8 on the road this season. They are scheduled to host LeBron James and the Cavaliers on Wednesday at Philips Arena.
