(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers visit the Denver Nuggets on Monday at the Pepsi Center.
It will be the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On February 2nd, the Trail Blazers defeated the Nuggets, 97-94, at the Rose Garden. With the win, Portland snapped a four-game series losing streak. The teams will play again on April 2nd at Portland and on April 19th at the Pepsi Center.
The home team has won 13 of the last 17 meetings in this series. The Nuggets have won seven of the last 10 contests. Portland has lost two straight and eight of its last 10 at Denver.
Portland enters Monday’s game on a four-game losing streak. On Saturday, Shawn Marion had 26 points and nine rebounds as the Phoenix Suns thumped the Trail Blazers, 129-116, at America West Arena.
Damon Stoudamire had a game-high 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting, and grabbed six rebounds for Portland. The Blazers have lost four straight and nine of their last 11 contests overall, and fell to 0-2 under the tutelage of interim coach Kevin Pritchard, who took over for the fired Maurice Cheeks.
The Blazers are a dismal 8-21 as the visitor this season. Portland has lost two straight and nine of its last 10 on the road.
Portland returns home on Wednesday for back-to-back games at the Rose Garden. The Trail Blazers will play the Chicago Bulls in the first of the brief homestand and will then host the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday in the first of a home-and-home set. The Blazers are 0-2 against the Grizzlies this season and are 0-1 versus Chicago.
Stoudamire has scored in double-digits in three straight games and is averaging 20.3 points and 5.7 assists in that span. He has recorded just three double-doubles this season.
