(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers used a huge fourth quarter to rally past the Miami Heat, 94-93, at the Rose Garden on Wednesday evening.
Qyntel Woods hit two free throws with four-tenths of a second left to push Portland to victory.
Woods, playing in place of Bonzi Wells, who was given a team suspension, was fouled going to the rim by Miami’s Lamar Odom as time ticked down. Woods scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds in only 18 minutes of play, including the two late free throws.
Portland’s Rasheed Wallace had a huge night, scoring 21 points and hauling down 11 rebounds. Zach Randolph, who came off the bench, contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for Portland, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
The Heat led 75-61 after three quarters, but the Blazers outscored Miami 33-18 in the final 12 minutes to win the game.
Portland used a 10-2 run in the last 2:13 of the game to set the stage for Woods’ dramatics. Wade’s soft left-handed scoop shot with 9.9 seconds to go gave the Heat a 93-92 lead.
Jeff McInnins then missed a three-pointer, but Woods grabbed the rebound and went right to the basket where he was fouled. Woods then sank both free throws and Lamar Odom missed a three at the buzzer, preserving the Portland win.
Portland ends its brief two-game homestand on Friday night when it welcomes Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets to the Rose Garden.
