Posey fined for flagrant foul

04.19.2004

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Memphis Grizzlies forward James Posey was fined $3,000 Monday for his flagrant foul during the team’s Game 1 loss to San Antonio in the opening round of the NBA playoffs.

Posey was called for the foul, originally considered a penalty one infraction, against Spurs guard Manu Ginobili with 6:08 remaining in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s game at SBC Center.

The fine was levied by the NBA after the league decided to upgrade the flagrant foul to a penalty two.

Posey was fined $7,500 by the league earlier this season when he kicked a ball into the stands in Utah.

The Grizzlies and Spurs will square off in Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals on Monday night in San Antonio.
