Bell suffered a left calf injury in the second half of Wednesday’s 121-118 Phoenix victory. Bell said he felt something pop in his leg when he was hurt midway through the fourth quarter.
"I’ve had a calf strain earlier this year," Bell said. "I missed the Cleveland game, but I never really felt it pop. So I haven’t experienced that one yet."
Bell, one of the league’s better defenders, has averaged 15.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists so far in these playoffs.
Leandro Barbosa is expected to start in Bell’s place for Game 2.
Suns forward Shawn Marion, who is averaging a team-best 22 points and 11.1 rebounds in the postseason, is probable for Friday’s game with a sore left ankle.
"It hurts a little bit," Marion said. "I’m treating it, but I’m good, I’m good."
