Raps hit the road rolling

02.13.2006

(Basketball News) - The Toronto Raptors try for their third straight win this evening when they open a five-game road trip against Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

The Raptors won both matchups with the Wolves last season, but have dropped eight of 12 and nine of the last 14 meetings. Toronto is also just 1-8 all- time in Minnesota.

On Sunday, Morris Peterson poured in 22 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists as Toronto stormed past the Portland Trail Blazers, 114-81, at Air Canada Centre. Mike James added 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, as the Raptors won for the fifth time in their last seven tries.

Charlie Villanueva netted 16 points and had nine rebounds in the win.

Chris Bosh scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Toronto, which shot an impressive 58.5 percent from the field in the game.

Bosh, selected to his first All-Star Game last week, has been a big part of the Raptors’ recent success. Over the last seven games, the 21-year-old forward is averaging 24.6 points and 11.1 rebounds. On the season Bosh is scoring 22.7 points with 9.3 boards, both of which are team highs.

Toronto, which will also visit New York, Memphis, Dallas and Miami on this trek, is 9-16 away from home this season.
