Raptors’ Bargnani undergoes appendectomy

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Toronto Raptors rookie forward Andrea Bargnani underwent successful surgery Wednesday for a non-perforated acute appendicitis.

Bargnani is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days, but no timetable has been set for his return.

The seven-foot, 250-pound Bargnani last played in Sunday’s 92-74 loss to the New York Knicks and registered seven points with six rebounds. In his first season with Toronto, he is averaging 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

The Raptors defeated the Orlando Magic 92-85 on Wednesday night to move to six games ahead of the New Jersey Nets for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.
