Raptors try for first win of season against Jazz

11.11.2005

(Basketball News) - The Toronto Raptors try once again for that elusive first victory of the season this evening when they continue their three-game homestand against the Utah Jazz at the Air Canada Centre.

The Raptors’ latest setback came on Monday, as they dropped a 105-93 decision to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Chris Bosh had 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Mike James added 17 points and six assists for the Raptors, who at 0-4 are off to their worst start in team history.

Toronto has been outscored by an average of 14 points and have been outrebounded 194-148 in the four losses. The Raptors, who have made a three- pointer in 536 games, have connected on just 5-of-24 shots from beyond the arc in their two losses.

The Raptors, who will close their homestand against Seattle on Sunday, have dropped all three of their games in their arena this season.

Utah, meanwhile, comes into tonight’s tilt on the heels of a loss after falling to the New Jersey Nets, 91-83, on Wednesday. Andrei Kirilenko scored 18 points for the Jazz, who lost for only the second time this season.

Keith McLeod and Kris Humphries each netted 11 points as Utah saw its two-game road winning streak stopped. Humphries also pulled down nine rebounds in the loss.

Utah, which leads the4 NBA with 243 rebounds, committed just 11 turnovers in Wednesday’s loss, but has turned it over a league-high 92 times on the season.

The Jazz, which will close a four-game road trip in Chicago on Saturday, are 2-1 away from home this season.

Toronto swept the two-game series from the Jazz last season and has won three straight in the series. Utah, though, has won six of 11 and nine of the last 15 meetings. The Jazz have also won four of its last seven north of the border.
