Raptors turn skid into fossil fuel

03.7.2006

(Basketball News) - The Raptors have a snowball’s chance in you know where at making the playoffs, but ending a six-game losing streak is a step in the right direction for next season.

On Sunday versus the Boston Celtics at the Air Canada Centre, Morris Peterson recorded 27 points, while rising star Chris Bosh contributed 24 points and 10 rebounds to help end a six-game losing streak.

Bosh leads the Raptors in scoring with 22.7 points per game, while pulling down a team-best 9.2 rebounds an outing. In his last five games, the Olympic- bound Bosh is averaging 24.4 points and 9.4 boards.

Now that the losing ways are extinct, the Raptors will host Cleveland on Wednesday in the opening of a home-and-home series before hitting the road.

Toronto has dropped five in a row away from Air Canada Centre and is 10-21 as the guest in 2005-06.

In the season series with Cleveland, the Raptors are down 0-1 after suffering a 105-93 loss to the Cavs on November 7. LeBron James had 27 points and six assists for the Cavs, while Bosh had 26 points and 12 rebounds for Toronto.

Cleveland has won two straight and four of the last five meetings with the Raptors, who have lost two in a row and four of six in Cleveland.

After the series with Cleveland, the Raptors will host Denver and Indiana before traveling to Philadelphia on March 14.
