Raptors’ Williams starts season on IL

Toronto, Ontario (Basketball News) - Toronto Raptors guard Alvin Williams was placed on the injured list, as the club released its opening night roster on Monday.

Williams sat out all eight preseason contests with a right knee ailment. He has visited with a number of knee specialists and may need surgery to repair the problem, which is listed officially as inflammation.

Last season, Williams averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 assists in 56 games for the Raptors.

Toronto also placed center Jerome Moiso and forward Pape Sow on the IL. Moiso has a strained left hamstring, while Sow is suffering from left knee tendinitis. Moiso missed four preseason games after suffering his injury in the first quarter of the October 20 contest versus Benetton Treviso. Sow dressed for all eight contests, totaling 24 minutes of playing time.
