Redd, Bucks edge SuperSonics

12.12.2006

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Michael Redd scored 22 points and Charlie Villanueva hit a couple of big shots in the final minutes, as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Seattle SuperSonics, 94-93, at the Bradley Center.

Ruben Patterson had 21 points and Villanueva finished with 15 points and six boards for the Bucks, who have won three of four. Andrew Bogut tallied 16 points, nine boards and six assists for Milwaukee, which has captured three straight at home.

Rashard Lewis had 26 points and Chris Wilcox had 16 points and eight boards for the Sonics, who had a three-game win streak halted to start a five-game road trip.

Trailing 90-88 after Lewis hit a pair of free throws for the Sonics with 3:51 left, Villanueva converted a three-point play 16 seconds later to put the Bucks ahead 91-90.

Damien Wilkins drained a pair from the line next time down the floor to put Seattle back in the lead by one, but Villanueva again came through with a jumper at the 3:07 mark to give Milwaukee a 93-92 edge.

The two teams then went nearly two minutes before the next points were scored and it was Nick Collison hitting only 1-of-2 free throws with 1:29 remaining to tie the contest at 93-93.

Fifteen seconds later Bogut hit 1-of-2 from the line for the Bucks to provide the final margin.

Seattle had three chances to win the game in the final minutes, but Luke Ridnour turned the ball over with just over a minute left and, following a Redd missed jumper, Collison missed a jumper with 31 seconds remaining. Then, with just two ticks remaining, Ridnour missed a jumper.

Ridnour ended with 12 points and eight assist for Seattle, which trailed 30-29 after one quarter but led 52-50 going into halftime. Collison and Johan Petro also had 12 points for the Sonics, who went into the fourth with a two-point margin, 75-73.
