Report: Magic to give Brian Hill a second chance 05.23.2005
|
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Hill, who held the same position with the Magic from 1993 to 1997, was hired to replace interim Chris Jent in favor of Flip Saunders and Eric Musselman.
In three-plus years at the helm in Orlando, Hill posted a 191-104 mark before being replaced by Richie Adubato on February 18, 1997, mainly due to a player revolt.
Hill had guided Orlando to the 1995 NBA Finals after a 60-22 campaign, but the Magic were swept in four games by the Houston Rockets.
Johnny Davis was fired with 18 games left last season and replaced on interim basis by Jent, who was notified last week that the team was going in another direction with the coaching search.
The Magic finished 36-46 last season and have missed the playoffs the last two seasons.
In other news for Orlando on Monday, the team announced that general manager/chief operating officer John Weisbrod has stepped down from his position to pursue an opportunity in hockey.
