Report: Mavericks ink Howard to four-year extension

10.19.2006

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly signed guard/forward Josh Howard to a four-year contract extension worth around $40 million.

The Dallas Morning News reported Howard would make between $8 million and $9 million in the first year of his deal.

Howard, who has one year left on his current contract, will reportedly be with the team through the 2010-11 season along with teammate Dirk Nowitzki, who inked a three-year extension during the offseason. Jason Terry, who signed for five years in July, will also be with the team through 2011.

Howard was Dallas’ first-round draft pick in 2003 and averaged 15.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 59 games last season.
