Rockets land in Miami

11.10.2005

(Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets start a five-game road trip tonight, as they visit Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Houston will try and halt a two-game losing streak. On Tuesday, Jameer Nelson scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter, including eight straight at one point to give Orlando the lead with under two minutes left, as the Magic rallied to beat the Rockets, 76-74, at the Toyota Center.

All-Star center Yao Ming had 17 points in Tuesday’s loss for Houston, which has lost two in a row without Tracy McGrady since beating Sacramento in the season opener. McGrady could be sidelined up to three weeks with a back injury.

The Rockets will also visit the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs on the current swing.

Miami begins a four-game homestand. On Wednesday, Ron Artest scored 24 points, including four crucial points down the stretch, as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Heat, 95-90, at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Wade scored 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out six assists, but committed 10 of Miami’s 21 turnovers in the loss to the Pacers. Udonis Haslem had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Alonzo Mourning added eight points and seven blocks for the Heat.

Miami, which is 1-2 without All-Star Shaquille O’Neal, shot 46 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Pacers, 47-40, but was only 3-of-11 from beyond the arc.

The Heat will also host the Charlotte Bobcats, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers on the current stand.

Miami has won three of the last five meetings in this series. Houston has lost two straight and eight of its last 10 at Miami.
