Houston, TX (Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets announced Thursday that they have re-signed free agent guard Jon Barry. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Last season the 36-year-old Barry scored 6.6 points and handed out 2.4 assists in 69 total games with Atlanta and the Rockets. He was traded to Houston on December 23 in exchange for guard Tyronn Lue. In 53 contests with the Rockets he posted seven points per game and helped the club to a 38-15 record.
"First and foremost, Jon knows how to win," general manager Carroll Dawson said. "He has brought a winning attitude to almost every team he has joined. He provided experience and energy to our lineup last season. This year he gives our team another reliable ball handler in the backcourt and a threat from three-point range."
Barry, a 13-year veteran, has career averages of 5.8 points, 2.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 801 games with Milwaukee, Golden State, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento, Detroit, Denver and Houston.
