Rockets resume road trip at Rose Garden

04.5.2006

(Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets play the third of a six-game road trip tonight, as they visit the slumping Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

This is the third and final meeting of the season between the squads. The Rockets won the two previous contests and have won nine straight in this series.

The last time Portland beat the Rockets was at home on November 21, 2003.

Houston has won four straight after losing its last four at Portland.

Portland enters tonight’s game on a season-worst 11-game losing streak. The Trail Blazers last victory was on March 12th at home against the Phoenix Suns.

On Sunday, All-Star Ray Allen scored 24 points as the Seattle SuperSonics had no problem defeating the Trail Blazers, 122-83, at KeyArena.

Sebastian Telfair and Martell Webster both scored 14 points for the dismal Trail Blazers, who have lost 21 of their last 23 games overall. Darius Miles ended with 11 points, while Joel Przybilla contributed nine blocks.

The Trail Blazers are 14-22 at home this season. They are scheduled to host the SuperSonics on Friday at the Rose Garden.

The Rockets are 0-2 on the current trip. On Tuesday, Allen tallied a game-high 32 points in leading the SuperSonics to a 104-87 win over Houston at KeyArena.

Yao Ming finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Seattle for the Rockets, who have lost two in a row and nine of their last 12 games overall. Rafer Alston added 16 points, while Juwan Howard netted 13 and pulled down 10 boards.

Houston, which will also visit Golden State, Sacramento and Utah on the swing, is 17-19 on the road this season.
